Placing three companies under Talent Lab’s brand and strategy microscope
Helping MDs take a fresh look at their companies’ journeys and potential avenues to future growth.
Our clients
Three companies in different sectors – residential housing developer, electrical training and technology – were looking for new ideas for future directions for their businesses. Each was put under the Talent Lab microscope to examine potential threats and opportunities over the near and medium term.
The challenge
Running a business can be lonely and time-consuming for owner-founders, leaving little time to analyse how far their companies have travelled and to map out future potential pathways for growth.
How we helped
Talent Lab is able to bring its experience of working with different sizes and sectors of companies over the past 20 years to undertake a detailed SWOT of their businesses and suggest where their efforts should be focused. Our SWOT looked at each of these businesses from the perspective of brand, marketing, communications, current clients and future markets.
Key programme steps
- A series of discussions with key team members and/or stakeholders, starting and finishing with the MD, inviting everyone to share confidentially their own perceptions of the strengths and weaknesses of the company
- Examination of their closest rivals and how our client can make the most of its current marketing and move ahead of their competitors
- Review of business plan alignment to the current direction of the company.
The programme takes five to ten days depending on the requirements and number of stakeholders.
Outcome
Delivery of final report with detailed action plan. The report includes expectations of their clients and the steps the company needs to take to position itself in the new and medium term.
The action plan was presented to each company and discussed over a final three-part session – summary of findings, Q&A, and agreed next steps. The company then decided to either take ownership on what it will act upon – or reject – or asked Talent Lab to lead on some or all of the elements. For one client this involved writing new content to strengthen and reframe its sustainable homes brand, supporting the realignment of its online marketing to ensure it connected effectively with its target market.
